Megan Thee Stallion is set to continue her hot girl summer as this year’s host at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). For the first time, the three-time GRAMMY®-winning and two-time VMAs-winning rapper will take on hosting duties at the award show. While this is her first award-hosting gig, the artist previously hosted Saturday Night Live and co-hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The rapper is also one of the night’s top nominees, securing five nods—the most for any hip-hop artist this year—including Best Hip-Hop Video for "BOA," a standout from her latest album Megan . Her other nominations include Best Collaboration for “Wannabe,” with tour mate confirmed VMA performer GloRilla.

2024 has been a monumental year for Megan, kicked off with a #1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 for her single "Hiss." She followed up by dropping her first independent album, Megan , which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200. This summer, she set the charts on fire with her viral single "Mashumi," featuring Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba, currently holding strong at #37 on the Hot 100.

In addition to her studio success, Megan has been taking her Hot Girl Summer Tour on the road, touring across North America and Europe with GloRilla on a 36-date run. The tour included notable stops in Megan’s hometown of Houston and a sold-out show at New York City’s legendary Madison Square Garden.

The VMAs have been enjoying a resurgence, with the 2023 show marking one of the highest-rated in years. The past two years have seen Nicki Minaj serve as host, with 2023 also celebrating hip-hop’s 50th anniversary in a star-studded tribute featuring Minaj, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, and others. This year’s VMAs will air live on September 11, from New York City, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on MTV and other Paramount platforms.
