County still mulling fate of Otis Gym

The Otis Gym, located at 2513 Smedley Road, about three miles south of Carlsbad, was slated for demolition, but that decision was tabled at the April commission meeting after residents expressed concerns.
Free summer kids meals available in Carlsbad, Loving
Seven locations in southern Eddy County are serving free meals for children 18 years of age and under as part of New Mexico’s Summer Food Service Program. The program is administered by the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD). Over 600 locations statewide will provide free meals through August on a first-come-first-served basis, read a press release from the state agency.

Eddy County Republican voters firmly lean in favor of Trump, Herrell
Eddy County voters could play a pivotal role in electing state leaders in the November General Election based on data from the June 4 Primary. In Eddy County, which leans Republican, 26% of the 27,328 persons eligible to vote cast ballots in the Primary Election. Republicans showed strong support for presidential candidate Donald Trump with 91 percent of the vote. Former U.S. House Representative Yvette Harrell also found favor among Eddy County Republicans, according to data from the New Mexico Secretary of State's Office, for New Mexico's Second Congressional District.
