Ortolano: New Mental Health Facility Not Likely to Ease Burden on Local Police
A local law enforcement official says while a plan to repurpose the former Lake Shore Hospital building in Irving into a behavioral and mental health clinic would benefit the north county, it is unlikely to lessen the burden on local police. Dunkirk Police Chief Dave Ortolano says he and Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone have been in touch with representatives from Northeast Medical. He says based on what they've learned from NE Med, it's not likely that the clinic will be able to accept mental health patients directly...

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The new women’s wrestling program at Buffalo State University could be in trouble before it has even had its first match. The program, which was first announced in 2022, is scheduled to begin in the 2024-25 school year. Head coach Steve Hart and assistant coach Kellen Devlin were both let go […]

All sorts of great shows, events, and concerts have come through Buffalo, Western New York, and Southern Ontario. There is something for everyone to see in the area, meaning people have many entertainment options.
There’s a new ball in town
In the world of handball, Buffalo Handball is putting the Queen City on the map. The start-up from friends and business partners Aidan Ryan, Christiano LiPuma, and Tim LaMere produces—fittingly—the Buffalo Ball, which LaMere says is “the best ball on earth.”. Handball is “the oldest game played...

Bills have yet to figure out their starters on special teams
The Bills had to make a lot of tough decisions this offseason for the sake of the salary cap and their future. Buffalo has lost a number of big names like wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis, pass-rusher Leonard Floyd and center Mitch Morse, but it’s also parted ways with a number of under-the-radar contributors, particularly on special teams, per Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News.
Hamilton Take 2: A look at the Sabres' free agency signings and trades
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Even before the Buffalo Sabres season ended, I had been saying that Buffalo only has seven forwards for next season. For years I’ve been saying they needed to be harder to play against, and it was obvious they needed another top-six forward. I was thinking they needed at least six new forwards, and as of July 6, they have five.

Popular Homebuyer Program Ending Soon In Buffalo, New York
Buffalo is in the middle of another record year on the housing front by all measurable accounts. Economic indicators continue to point to Western New York having the hottest housing markets in the entire United States. Housing in the Buffalo area is reaching new heights, and while some financial analysts say a housing bubble is soon to bust, it doesn't seem that way in the 716.
Sabres Forward Standing Out as Prime Trade Candidate
The Buffalo Sabres have had a busy offseason, but they might not be done just yet. They still haven't added a proper top-six winger to their roster, which is one of their biggest summer goals. As a result, another trade could be on the way. When looking at the Sabres' roster, Peyton Krebs is one player they could use as a trade chip to upgrade it. With the Sabres acquiring Ryan McLeod from the Edmonton Oilers, he is set to be their third-line center for the 2024-25 season. Because of this, Krebs, who had chances at the 3C role last...

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A fire caused an estimated $130,000 in damage to a Buffalo residence Sunday afternoon, fire officials announced. Officials said the fire occurred just after 12:30 p.m. at 260 Northland Avenue. The fire started on the first floor of an occupied residential structure, but no injuries were reported. The cause of the […]
A way too early projection of the Sabres 2024-25 lines and pairings
The Buffalo Sabres have a bit of a new look this season, something that we can say was completed when they made a decent trade for Ryan McLeod the other day. Following the McLeod trade, it got me thinking, “What will the Sabres lineup look like this season when they ultimately take the ice?”
Buffalo Sabres Open Thread | Wk of 7/7
Two players heading to arbitration as we await GMKA’s next move(s) Those of us who had thought General Manager Kevyn Adams was pretty much done after the first couple of days of free agency were certainly caught by surprise with the flurry of activity. There are others who right now are wishing Adams had not acted, because the Sabres have added another 3rd/4th liner but this time at the cost of one of the higher rated prospects in the farm system.
