City of Gillette Animal Shelter seeking foster homes for kittens
GILLETTE, Wyo. — The City of Gillette Animal Shelter is inundated with kittens, and it’s reaching out to the community to help them find forever homes. The shelter put out a call for help in a Facebook post on Monday, saying it is in desperate need of foster homes for multiple groups of young kittens. Several previous foster homes are currently not able to take pets, the shelter said, increasing the foster need for both dogs and cats.
CHAPS brings the Tournament of Knights to Sheridan for the 7th year
The Knights of Valor are returning to compete in Sheridan during a one day medieval festival to benefit CHAPS Equine Assisted Services. For the seventh year, CHAPS has organized the Tournament of Knights to raise funds for their programs. A troupe of jousting knights will compete at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds on July 27.
Shelter hires new Operations Manager
The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter has selected a new operations manager, Hannah Edwards. Edwards started working at the shelter approximately two years ago. While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, she said it was passion for animals that led her to her first position as front desk manager.
West Nile Virus Detected In Mosquito Samples In Laramie
West Nile virus (WNV) has been documented in two mosquito samples collected over the past few weeks just outside city limits. The positive samples were isolated in mosquitos collected from surveillance traps monitored by City of Laramie Mosquito Control. The samples were determined to be positive for WNV via RAMP testing performed by City of Laramie Mosquito technicians this week.
