‘Captive State: Louisiana and the Making of Mass Incarceration’ now on view at HNOC
Throughout Louisiana’s history, people in power have used systems of enslavement and incarceration to hold others captive for punishment, control and exploitation. After more than six years of research and preparation, the Historic New Orleans Collection will debut a limited-time exhibition titled “Captive State: Louisiana and the Making of Mass Incarceration” that examines the roots of the state’s current distinction as the incarceration capital of the world.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) — A Lafayette discount store will soon be closing its doors. Big Lots, located the corner of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Johnston Street, is going out of business. It's on a list of 40 stores the national chain said it's shutting down due to declining sales.
