Civic Media’s “Truth Booth:” Capturing the Voices of Madison at AtwoodFest
Local residents can share their stories about life in south central Wisconsin and record them for posterity. The Civic Media “Truth Booth” will be making a stop at AtwoodFest in Madison, Saturday, July 27 from noon to 10 pm, and Sunday, July 28, noon to 7 pm, giving residents a platform to share their thoughts about living in south central Wisconsin. From local leadership and healthcare options, to traditions and events like AtwoodFest, the “Truth Booth” has a goal of capturing the voice of the community, its spirit and quality of life.

(WMTV) - If you or someone you know is looking for LGBTQ+ community and resources, the Madison Public Library wants you to know what they know. “We’re all kind of asking the same question right,” posed Savannah Carr, former youth services librarian with Madison Public Library. “How do I find a doctor, how do I find a support group, how do I meet this need?”
Madison Black Restaurant Week set for Aug 11-17
Madison’s many Black-owned restaurants will be highlighted at the upcoming Madison Black Restaurant Week, which will take place Aug. 11-17. “In honor of August being Black Business Month, Madison Black Restaurant Week aims to amplify and celebrate the vital contributions of Black entrepreneurs, chefs, and restaurateurs to our vibrant local culinary scene,” the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce said in a press release announcing Madison Black Restaurant Week. “This week-long celebration provides an opportunity for the community to come together, show support, and explore a wide variety of authentic, mouth-watering cuisines crafted with passion and dedication.”
Madison Lake Rescue Team find missing jet skier on Lake Mendota
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Lake rescue crews found a missing jet skier Sunday amid heavy rain, making it harder to see on Lake Mendota, the Madison Fire Department reports. Members of MFD’s Lake Rescue Team and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office headed to Memorial Union, on the 800 block of Langdon Street, around 5:35 p.m. for the report of a missing jet skier. Officials spoke with a friend of the missing boater, who described the individual and the jet ski.

Firefighters Force Entry Into Hotel Room to Investigate Smoke
Madison Fire was dispatched to the 8102 Excelsior Drive, where staff reported smoke coming from one of the guest rooms. Staff were able to open the door only a few inches as a cabinet was blocking further access to the room. A neighbor was able to pull three cats out of the narrow opening.
