A 104-foot yacht near the mouth of the Rhode River near Edgewater overturned Saturday afternoon, said Coast Guard and Anne Arundel Fire Department representatives.

The Coast Guard received a mayday call around 12:36 p.m. related to the boat, but by the time its crews arrived the five people onboard were all accounted for and safely taken from the scene, said Coast Guard spokesperson Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Bokum. They were assisted by a good Samaritan and a towboat nearby, he said.

It’s unclear what led the vessel, which isn’t registered in the state, to tip over, Bokum said. As of around 3:15 p.m., the boat was still lying on its side in the water. A salvage plan for the boat is currently in the works, Bokum said. No pollution has yet been reported, he added.
