Manhattan Project National Historical Park To Host Days Of Peace And Remembrance In 79th Anniversary Observance Of Atomic Bombings Of Japan
DENVER – Manhattan Project National Historical Park, in partnership with Pearl Harbor National Memorial (NM), will host “Days of Peace and Remembrance” across its three sites and at Pearl Harbor NM to commemorate and reflect on the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Japan in 1945.
National Museum Of Nuclear Science & History Names Gabriel Nemiroff New Director Of Education
ALBUQUERQUE — The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History (NMNS&H) announced Gabriel Nemiroff as its new director of education. Nemiroff joined the Museum July 8, 2024. “The Museum is excited to welcome Gabe to this integral role,” NMNS&H President and CEO Jennifer Hayden said. “This critical position connects educational programs to the Museum’s mission and sets the pace for informal learning. Gabe’s experience is a natural fit for this role. His guidance will ensure the Museum is one of the best places for children and adults to learn the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”

Cooler weather on tap with showers and storms
Starting the morning with temps in the 70s and 60s across the High Plains. Temps for this afternoon will rise into the 80s to low 90s. After a cold front moved through the region, expect a stretch of pleasant temps starting today. We broke a record yesterday in Amarillo with temps reaching 105, making it the sixth consecutive day of 100-degree weather. Showers continue to drift across SW parts of the Panhandle this morning as well as areas to the SE. There will be another round of moisture this evening across eastern New Mexico and western parts of the Texas Panhandle. A Flood Watch is already in effect for eastern New Mexico. Our severe threat for today is low but if we do see strong storms the main hazards will be damaging winds and minor flooding. Lake McClellan had the highest rainfall observed on Tuesday with 0.94″. We are still forecasting rainfall between 0.25″ to 1.25″ for the next seven days.

We have another slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for the southwestern Texas Panhandle. Storms have already initiated in northeastern New Mexico and the Amarillo area, storm chances come from the idea that they will move south to southeast into our viewing area.
