The Cadets won't be competing this year, but that doesn't mean fans of drum and bugle need to leave Erie County to see a show.

Drum Corps International's online calendar has an August event in Edinboro titled DCI Lake Erie.

    What happened to The Cadets?

The world-renowned drum corps signed a deal in 2023 to make the Erie Sports Center in Summit Township the year-round home of The Cadets. The corps had been expected to take over the popular Lake Erie Fanfare show starting in 2024.

However, Cadets Arts & Entertainment, the nonprofit that oversaw the the corps, in October announced the suspension of The Cadets 2024 competitive season.

In April, the nonprofit filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

    What is DCI?

The nonprofit sanctions participating recognized drum corps and produces events for the world’s most elite and exclusive marching ensembles for student musicians and performers, according to its website, dci.org.

When and where is DCI Lake Erie?

The event is set for Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at PennWest Edinboro's Sox Harrison Stadium, 455 Scott Road, Edinboro, according to DCI.

    Who is in the lineup?

The early schedule on the DCI website had North Coast Brass of Erie performing at 7:10 p.m. Five corps were listed with performance times to be determined. They were:

    The Cavaliers of Rosemont, Illinois.

    Troopers of Casper, Wyoming.

    Blue Knights of Denver, Colorado.

    Seattle Cascades of Seattle, Washington.

Pacific Crest of City of Industry, California.

    Where can I get tickets?

Tickets purchased online are $31 for premium, from about the 20- to 40-yard lines, and $36 for super premium, which are on either side of the 50-yard line, plus a $6.95 fee per ticket. Tickets aren't required for children younger than 3 sitting on a lap. The DCI website said prices will increase the day of the event but didn't specify by how much.
