    Edinburg suspect gets $1 million bond for ‘intentionally’ hitting duo with truck

    EDINBURG, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — The suspect who allegedly ran over two people with his truck this past weekend was arraigned at the Edinburg Municipal Court on Monday.

    Luis Antonio Garza, 26, admitted to getting into an argument with one of the victims over $100 that was owed to him.

    Garza further admitted to intentionally hitting the duo with his truck, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.

    Hidalgo County deputies responded to multiple calls regarding a disturbance on the 6300 block of Lorena Street in Edinburg.

    When they arrived they found 20-year-old Edinburg resident Briseida Cobarrubias dead with injuries to her head.

    The second victim was identified as Jorge Galvan, 27, who sustained minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.

    Garza was charged with one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

    His total bond is set at $1 million.
