An Edison woman was killed by a large falling tree during a severe microburst storm that roared through the Catskill Mountains in New York.

Carol E. Luistro was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Town of Colchester Police Department reports.

Luistro was found inside her camper at the Russell Brook Campground on June 30.

Police responded the call at 10:50 a.m. and encountered downed trees and power lines caused by a strong storm that moved through the area.

The investigation revealed that a large tree fell and and struck the camper, pinning the woman under it and pronouncing her dead on arrival, according to officials.

The post states multiple fire departments, EMS personnel, New York State Police, the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and Delaware County Medical Examiner's Office were among those that responded to the scene.
