    NJ Transit tells riders to anticipate delays, cancellations due to extreme heat

    New Jersey Transit is advising travelers of the potential for delays and cancellations over the next 48 to 72 hours due to the excessive heat. In a travel advisory, the transportation company stated, “We are experiencing heat-related rail equipment issues to the air-conditioning/electronic components due to the extreme and excessive temperatures. As a result, customers may experience delays and it may be necessary to cancel/combine select trips for the next 48-72 hours. Our rail maintenance crews are working diligently to make repairs & restore equipment as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

One woman said her train was canceled once and then delayed. “The train that I was supposed to take was 7:43 p.m. That got canceled. The next one was at 7:47 p.m. and got delayed even further,” said Kamelia Roy. “The ride itself was alright. It was just a matter of from New York Penn all the way here. Getting that train started was a big deal.” A man said his train was delayed more than half an hour. Another traveler told News 12 that her train had no air conditioning, was delayed twice and arrived 45 minutes late. More information about potential delays and changes can be found on the
