Plainfield Police Encourage Residents to Lock Car Doors, Keep Items Out of View
PLAINFIELD, NJ — Starting Tuesday last week, the Plainfield Police Department began to encourage Plainfield residents to lock their cars and hide items from view. "Lock your cars after exiting," reads the statement that has been posted on the city's Facebook page two more times since the initial warning. "When leaving vehicles, please place all items out of view. We’re experiencing an uptick in the theft of personal items from unlocked vehicles, and we want to keep your property safe." New Jersey Swimmers Fallon and Alexy Earn Spots in U.S. Olympic Trials
NEW JERSEY - Two New Jersey swimmers, Matt Fallon of Warren and Jack Alexy of Mendham, have earned spots in the U.S. trials for the 2024 Olympics, which kick off in Paris on July 26. Fallon broke the American record in the 200-meter breaststroke, while Alexy secured his spot in the 100-meter freestyle by outperforming a seven-time gold medalist. Fallon, a 2021 graduate of the Pingry School in Basking Ridge, broke numerous records during his high school career. Union Education Assoc. to Host Annual Town-Wide Block Party
UNION, NJ - A "Town-Wide Block Party", hosted by the Union Township Education Association (UTEA), is set for Tuesday, August 13, in Rabkin Park for all Union residents. Camden County Boy Scouts heading home from St. Croix due to global tech outage canceling flight
STRATFORD, N.J. (CBS) — A group of Boy Scouts from Camden County is on the way home Saturday after being stranded in Saint Croix.Troop 122 landed in the Virgin Islands on July 12. The children, who range in age from 11 to 17, spent the last week earning merit badges and practicing lifesaving skills while staying at a 17-acre seafront campground called Camp Howard M. Wall.The scouts' flight to Philadelphia was supposed to leave on Friday but got canceled because of the global tech outage. The scouts were told it could be a week before they could get on another flight.Scoutmaster Stacey White said he's relieved that Spirit Airlines was able to add a flight so the group could leave Saturday night. The troop is scheduled to arrive at Philadelphia International Airport early Sunday morning."Very happy," White said. "It's a lot of responsibility having 30-some kids knowing that they're running out of their medications and some of them, when they're out of medications, have withdrawal symptoms — whatever it is, it was not going to be pretty."White said he got a phone call from New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, who wanted to make sure the children were OK.

Clark, NJ — A single-vehicle accident occurred on the Hyatt Hills Golf Course, located at 1300 Raritan Rd, Sunday evening.
