Parsons School District launching free meals for all students under new program
PARSONS, Kan. — The Parsons School District qualifies for a sweeping lunch program that includes every student at school. USD 503 now has the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) designation. In other words, they can offer a free breakfast and lunch to every student regardless of income. There’s an extensive application process through federal and state authorities to prove they have at least 25 percent enrollment who qualify under free and reduced guidelines.

Bonner Springs takes steps needed for Mattel Park
BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. (KCTV) - Bonner Springs city leaders are one step closer to a Mattel Amusement Park within its city limits. The 7-member Bonner Springs Planning Commission voted unanimously on July 16 to approve the requested amendment to the Comprehensive Plans Future Land Use Map. The request was to revert the parcel in question back to its previous classification of “Mixed-Use” from “Industrial-Use” it was changed to in January/February of 2023.

Kentucky Fried Wishes come true for Emporia Area Chamber Foundation, Little Lyons Childcare
Some of the renovations and new equipment at Little Lyons Childcare will have a decidedly Kentucky Fried aspect to them. No, the playground equipment funded by the KFC Foundation isn’t edible, but the $10,000 coming officially from the Kentucky Fried Wishes community giving program helps to finish off an infant-toddler playground after significant grants from the Trusler Foundation.
