OCSO Confirms Edmond Kidnapping Suspect Arrest In Texas

Oklahoma County Sheriff Office confirms that Edmond kidnapping suspect, Kadarryus Caples was arrested in the Dallas metro area Friday.

Earlier this week deputies released information connecting him to the Edmond kidnapping that occurred in June, after a social media post helped connect the dots.

Deputies say that on June 14, two armed men forced 43-year-old Isabel Brown into their car near Northwest 178th Street and MacArthur Boulevard. Once the Kasey alert went out, the victim was dropped off around Interstate 40 and May Avenue, authorities confirmed.

According to the arrest warrant, FBI agents assisted and were able to pull four pictures from the victim’s Tesla car, one showing a black man “armed with a long rifle and had no mask.” Through facial recognition, Johnson says the suspect was identified as 23-year-old Kadarryus Caples from Fort Worth, Texas.

The arrest warrant shows the victim picked Caples out of a photo lineup using his driver’s license picture.

Investigators say they also have reason to believe Caples involved due to a recent social media post.

"In this case, in the video we obtained, he is carrying a semi-automatic rifle, and there is a rubber band around the magazine. In the picture he posted on social media, it's the same gun with the same rubber band," said Aaron Brilbeck with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office

"You'd be surprised with how many times where criminals will do something stupid like post on social media with evidence," said Brilbeck.

Deputies say Caples was in Oklahoma when this kidnapping happened. Recently, Texas police were able to track down the rental car used in the kidnapping.

Deputies say Caples choked the woman until she was unconscious, made her Cash App $10,000, and asked the woman if she knew anyone willing to pay ransom to keep her alive.

Caples also allegedly stole $250,000 in cash that the woman had in her car.

Court papers also revealed that the suspect beat and choked the victim until she was unconscious and told her he “was going to kill her.”

A warrant has now been issued for Caples' arrest.

"Anyone willing to kidnap someone in broad daylight at gunpoint. That's a very dangerous person. Do not approach that person call 911," said Brilbeck.

Deputies say they still aren't sure if Caples and Brown knew each other before the kidnapping.

The names of the other two suspects haven't been released, and they haven't been arrested.
