Alcester-Hudson Suffers Second Straight Road Loss
The Alcester-Hudson Cub volleyball team traveled to Dell Rapids to take on the St Mary Cardinals on Thursday, August 29th. The Cardinals took the match in straight sets. The Cubs started the match with a 4-0 run. They led 6-2 before St Mary scored four in a row to tie the score 6-6. The Cardinals went ahead 10-9 and extended their lead to 14-10. They continued to lead by four points, 17-13, but the Cubs rallied and tied the score 19-19 before grabbing a 20-19 lead. The Cardinals scored the next three points to go back in front 22-20. St Mary finished the first set on a 3-1 run for a 25-21 win.

Baltic Volleyball Starts Season with Win
The Baltic Bulldogs had their first match of the 2024 volleyball season at home on Thursday, August 29th against the Colman-Egan Hawks. The Bulldogs won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-17, and 25-21. The opening set was back and forth for the first half. Each team had small leads during that time. The score was tied 7-7 and 12-12. Baltic then made a 4-0 run to go ahead 16-12. They continued to stay in the lead at scores of 18-16 and 21-17. Colman-Egan made a run to tie the score 22-22, but the Bulldogs ended the first set on a 3-1 run to take the win.
