Jonesboro High celebrates 100 years of Hurricane football in upcoming game
2024 marks 100 years since Jonesboro High School's football team became the Jonesboro Hurricane. It all started with some students and their teacher. “In 1924, there was a group of students and a journalist teacher that kind of gave us a nickname, the Golden Hurricane, and it hit the newspaper and we ran with it,” said Trey Harding, the Director of Athletics at Jonesboro High School.

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - High school football kicks off in Northeast Arkansas. Week 1 of Football Friday Night was headlined by a 3A versus 2A matchup. Walnut Ridge blanked East Poinsett County 37-0 in our Game of the Week. The Bobcats won 8 games in 2023 and reached the 2nd Round in the 3A State Playoffs. The Warriors look to build off a banner campaign. EPC won 12 games, the 2A-2 championship, and reached the 2A State Finals.
