Two local college players are currently playing basketball in Poland. Robert Morris’ sophomore forward Alvaro Folgueiras is competing at the U20 European Championships in Poland, representing his home country of Spain. He has led the team to a 3-0 record in the group stage competition so far. He has grabbed four rebounds in two of the three games, and scored six, eight, and zero points in the three games. Folgueiras is averaging over 14 minutes per game.

Organizers of a downtown Butler event are responding to issues raised by City officials by canceling the event. Last week, Mayor Bob Dandoy addressed Council about discussions he had with organizers for the Italian Festival scheduled for August 23rd, 24th, and 25th. The main issue was allowing set-up on Thursday which removes parking and negatively impacts businesses on Main Street.
Western Pennsylvania Telecom Pays $6.5M In Settlement With the Feds
The Armstrong Group of Companies, a third-generation family-owned, Pittsburgh-based telecom, will repay the U.S. Treasury $6.5 million. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the payback comes after a whistleblower lawsuit was brought against the company in 2008. Allegations show that Armstrong submitted false claims to the FCC’s Universal Service Fund, which provides federal money for broadband expansion in rural or underserved areas.
