Police arrive at the scene of a crime.

The San Diego and El Cajon police departments announced Monday the arrest of a suspect in connection with a string of armed robberies which occurred in both cities last week.

According to reports from investigators, 22-year-old Anthony Caleb Johnson was arrested two days ago on suspicion of the robberies that occurred on July 10, between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

The first of the four holdups occurred in the 4500 block of Mission Boulevard, near Crystal Pier. The next three heists — committed by a lone man wearing a hooded sweat shirt and a face mask — played out in quick succession at 7-Eleven stores in the 3000 block of Clairemont Drive, the 7800 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and the 2200 block of Fletcher Parkway.

A search warrant was served at a Lakeside residence to potentially recover evidence in connection with the crimes.

Police said witnesses identified Johnson as one of two suspects. Officers obtained his vehicle identification and license plate number and connected the vehicle with the robbery locations.

Johnson is currently in the San Diego County Jail on $200,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment on July 17.

Investigators are still seeking the second suspect involved.
