Grasshopper embryos begin to develop within eggs immediately after they are deposited by adults and they must reach a certain stage of development before entering a period of dormancy in the winter, referred to as diapause. What drives the successful development of these embryos? Heat! An accumulation of heat is needed by fall for these eggs to have successful hatch rates the following spring.

Colorado Springs man wanted for attempted murder arrested in Florida
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A man who has been a featured fugitive by Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers since January is now in custody. The U.S. Marshals Service provided an update on the manhunt for Yoel Aleman-Rodriguez this week. The U.S. Marshals COVOTF in Colorado Springs received a request for assistance from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office to help take Aleman-Rodriguez in custody back on July 2. Investigators learned he was possibly living with a family member near Fort Myers, Florida. The Florida-Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force (FCRFTF) in southern Florida was able to capture Aleman-Rodriguez on July 9 in Lehigh Acres.

Victims identified in fatal accident at intersection of Powers and Fountain
The identities of the victims in the tragic collision that occurred on the morning of June 16, 2024, at the intersection of Powers Boulevard and Fountain Boulevard have been released by the El Paso County Coroner’s office. The two victims were identified as Emily Hoffman, 51, and Olga Guavala, 72.
