Industry changes now in effect for Illinois realtors, home buyers
(The Center Square) – Illinois home buyers are now facing a different landscape in the real estate industry. For decades, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) required home sale listing brokers to provide an offer of compensation to a buyer’s agent up front. That usually was a 6% split between a seller’s broker and buyer’s agent. Groups of home sellers brought lawsuits against the NAR for its standard commission structure,...

La Salle County Nursing Home, Arc of Streator Hit with Significant State Fines in Q2
Some long-term-care facilities in Starved Rock Country have landed on a list they don't want to be on. The La Salle County Nursing Home, and Arc of Streator, have each been hit with fines of $25,000 by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The state agency has issued its most recent quarterly report, and says a number of homes join the facilities in violating the Nursing Home Care Act. The county home and Arc of Streator were specifically cited for falling short in a number of areas, including following comprehensive resident care plans, having written policies and procedures governing all services provided by the facility, and keeping the facility free of accident hazards whenever possible. Other area facilities were hit with fines, too. Sandwich Rehab has been fined $7,100. Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa owes $2,200 in fines from the second quarter, as does Arcadia Care of Morris.
