    El Paso amateur boxers find success at national tournament in Kansas

    El Paso boxers fared well at the 2024 USA Boxing National Junior Olympic & Summer Festival in Wichita, Kansas, winning national titles on Friday and Saturday.

    In the youth male 119-pound division, Moises Rodriguez defeated Yu'Shore Williams by unanimous decision. He won by scores of 29-28 on four scorecards and 30-27 on the other card. He has won eighth national titles in his career.

    "It was a good week, I fought some really great fighters," said the 17-year-old Rodriguez, who attends El Dorado High School. "I got in four tough fights and each fighter presented a challenge. I am excited for the win."

    In the Elite 119-pound female division, Kayla Gomez defeated Isabell Beltran. The scores were 30-25, 30-24, 30-25, 30-24, 30-26. Gomez has won multiple international and national titles in her career.

    In the intermediate, 101-pound Division, Daisy Enriquez defeated Miranda Zamarripa of Edinburg, Texas, by unanimous decision,

    "It felt good to win another national title," said the 13-year-old Enriquez. "I stuck to my game plan. In both of my fights this week, the opponents had different styles, but I adjusted."
