    Stolen ambulance leads police pursuit in Central El Paso

    EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM )—Officials with the El Paso Police Department said a woman stole an ambulance and initiated a police pursuit Tuesday morning, July 2.

    At approximately 8 a.m. this morning, an El Paso Fire Department ambulance was stolen from the Del Sol Emergency Room, said Enrique Dueñas, spokesperson with EPFD.

    The El Paso Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety deployed units and detained the woman at Altura and Gateway North, he added.

    El Paso Fire did clarify that projectiles with pepper spray were used while detaining the woman.

    According to the Texas Department of Transportation, all lanes are closed on Gateway North, and the clearing time is one hour.
