    Man’s legs amputated after being struck by train near Mount Cristo Rey

    EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — A man was struck by a train and suffered severe injuries Thursday morning, July 18, near Mount Cristo Rey, according to the Sunland Park Fire Department.

    The Fire Department says they responded just after 7 a.m. Thursday to a man who was struck by a train and sustained double amputation below the knees at the base of Mount Cristo Rey.

    The man is in his 20s and was airlifted to a trauma center by Native Air, according to the Fire Department.

    The Sunland Park Police Department and US Border Patrol also responded to the incident.

    No further information has been released.
