Heat returns; triple digits by next week — Your 9-Day Forecast

    By Robert Bettes,

Let’s start with some good news… rain! Yes, we began the morning with some much-needed rainfall. At the airport, we recorded an official 0.15 inches, bringing the total for the year to 2.85 inches. (Normal is 3.43 inches.) West of the Franklin Mountains recorded over an inch of rain in some places.

Now the bad news. We added to the “Misery Meter” on Saturday with a high of 102. Now, we have 30 days so far this year of 100 or above, 13 of which were 105 or hotter.

Knowing it would be muggy and hot by the afternoon, two industrious young ladies set up a lemonade and cookie stand. (No, there were no free samples. I’ll bring money next time.)
