    Teen shot during violent home invasion at West El Paso apartment

    An 18-year-old man was wounded in a shooting during a home invasion involving two men wearing hoods and ski masks at a West Side apartment earlier this month.

    El Paso police detectives are asking for the public's help in solving the violent residential robbery, which occurred at 9:37 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, at the Tuscany at Mesa Hills apartments at at 415 S. Mesa Hills Drive.

    The case is Crime Stoppers of El Paso's Crime of the Week.

    The masked men walked up a flight of stairs, forced their way into an apartment and used a gun to threaten a young man residing in the apartment, Crime Stoppers said.

    The home invaders beat the young man, shot him and fled after stealing several undisclosed items from the apartment, police said. A detailed description of the robbers wasn't released, except that the one who had the gun was about 5 feet 7 inches tall.

    Anyone with information regarding the home invasion may anonymously call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 (TIPS) or leave a tip online at cselpaso.org . Tipsters could be eligible for a cash reward if a tip leads to an arrest.
