EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — A Northeast El Paso restaurant has been burglarized for the second time in a month and the owner wants to bring attention to the crime.

Lucy’s Cafe North, 10025 Dyer St., was burglarized at about 1 a.m. on Friday, its owner Ivan Lepe said.

Surveillance video captured the thief breaking in through the back door and making his way to the register in less than a minute, Lepe said.

He said his business was also burglarized in late June in the same manner.

This time, he said he was fortunate there was no money in the register.

Lepe said that his biggest issue isn’t the money, but the “fear factor.”

He is frustrated because he worries that he is not able to provide a safe and secure environment for his employees.

“That is the biggest burden on my shoulders,” Lepe said.

He is also taking additional measures to make sure it is harder to break into his business.

“I would tell other business owners to be vigilant and not only look out for your own property but for your neighbors’,” Lepe said.

If you have any information about the burglaries, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566-8477.
