HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An Elberfeld man will serve 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to dealing drugs in Posey County.

Cody Smith was sentenced on Wednesday on two counts of Dealing in Methamphetamine and Visiting a Common Nuisance.

The Posey County Prosecutor’s Office states as part of the plea, Smith admitted to delivering meth to an undercover informant in Posey County on two separate occasions in April 2023.

Officials state Smith and 21 other drug offenders were identified and arrested as a result of “Operation Last Dance”, an undercover drug investigation conducted by the Posey County Drug Task Force that began in June 2022.

Officials also state Smith was unable to be located when the raid was conducted on May 25, 2023 but was arrested days later on May 29, 2023 and has been in the Posey County Jail since his arrest on bond.

“This sentence is a result of the diligent police work of the Posey County Drug Task Force. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into removing drugs and drug dealers from our community. This is a community safety issue that my office will continue to aggressively pursue with our local law enforcement agencies,” said Posey County Prosecutor Thomas Clowers.

Smith will serve his sentence at the Indiana Department of Correction.
