Jefferson City check point in Missouri River 340 race now open
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ) The Jefferson City check point opened Wednesday morning for racers in the Missouri River 340. More than 700 racers are paddling the river in this annual race across the state that began at 7 a.m. Tuesday in Kansas City. The Carl R. Noren Access in Jefferson City is checkpoint number four in this day race.
Jefferson City Council Approves Hiring New Water Operator
The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday evening in regular session. The Council approved a resolution for a farm lease agreement between the Airport Commission and the tenant of the farmland around the airport, Adam Ebersole. The new agreement is for two years and at a rate of $275 per acre of crop and $135 per acre for hay. The amount for the 2025 and ‘26 growing seasons is $35,605.
Trial rescheduled for Hartsburg man accused of fatally stabbing father
A Boone County man charged with murdering his father two years ago will head to trial next spring. Collin Knight, 25, of Hartsburg, had been scheduled for a jury trial to begin next March. But because of unavailability of the Division 4 courtroom, his trial has been rescheduled for February 25, 2025, with a backup date of April 22.
Columbia woman receives probation for nailing man in basement
A Columbia woman who nailed a man shut in a basement pleads down to one of the three charges filed against her. Alexis Fenton had been charged with third-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, and third-degree kidnapping. She pleaded guilty Monday to the domestic assault charge and was sentenced to five years supervised probation. If Fenton violates her probation, she faces four years in prison.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — St. Louis County Council passed legislation this Tuesday removing barriers to the state's Senior Tax Credit program. That program gives seniors and disabled individuals a credit for a portion of the real estate taxes or rent they paid for the year. The credit is for up to $750 for renters and up to $1,100 for owners who owned and occupied their home.
