A Homes For Iowa House Has Been Delivered To Glidden
The Homes for Iowa spec house has arrived in Glidden and is awaiting to be placed on the foundation to give another option for affordable housing in the community. Last spring, the Glidden City Council approved donating a lot in a subdivision that has sat vacant for 15 years to Region XII Council of Governments (COG) for a two-bedroom, one-bath home to be constructed and delivered to Glidden through the HFI program. This opportunity has been made possible through financial assistance from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Workforce Housing Tax Credit program. The house will be placed on the foundation next week and hooked up to utilities. Once completed, the house will be available for purchase. Questions or interested buyers are asked to contact City Administrator Brooke Peterson for more information.

Miller-Meeks aids in securing nearly $1.5 million award for UI
U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, helped obtain nearly $1.5 million of congressional funding disbursed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Diocese of Sioux City priest charged with theft, fraud
ALGONA, Iowa (KCAU) — An Iowa priest affiliated with the Catholic Diocese of Sioux City has been accused of misappropriating nearly $70,000 in funds. The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that Father Steven McLoud, 65, of Fort Dodge, has been charged with first-degree theft and first-degree fraudulent practices, both felonies.
Eastern Iowa Restaurant Re-Opens Under New Owners
An Eastern Iowa restaurant open since the 1980s is now under new ownership, and is back open with a new menu and a new look!. The Pizza Place in Center Point, Iowa opened in 1982. The restaurant was owned for years by Cindy and Dave Krumm. They were known for their great pizzas, especially the homemade crust recipe. The pizza and the crust recipe remain but The Pizza Place is now owned and run by Allison and Craig Sorensen. After taking over the restaurant, they closed down for a short time to freshen up the interior and the menu too.
