2025 AGTA GemFair Tucson adds extra day to meet needs of attendees
(DALLAS) – Show growth and accommodating shopper needs are why the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) is pleased to add one extra day to the 2025 AGTA GemFair Tucson. The new show dates will be Monday, Feb. 3 – Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025. Hours will be 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3 through Friday, Feb. 7 (the Grand Ballroom opens at 9:30 a.m. and the GemHall floor and Galleria opens at 10 a.m.); 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8; and 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9. (Previously, the show closed on 4 p.m. on Sunday, the last day.) The show returns to the Tucson Convention Center (TCC).

Driver who killed Tucson's 'Umbrella Lady' sentenced to jail
TUCSON, Ariz. — The driver who hit and killed a pedestrian, known by Tucsonans as the "Umbrella Lady," was sentenced Monday for her crimes. Guadalupe Theresa Solis was sentenced in Superior Court on Monday to 180 days in jail and four years of probation, according to a representative from the Pima County Attorney’s Office.
U.S. Air Force Contests EPA's Cleanup Order for PFAS Contamination at Tucson Superfund Site
The U.S. Air Force is pushing back against the Environmental Protection Agency's demand for an expedited cleanup of hazardous chemicals at a Tucson Superfund site, challenging the urgency and legal grounds of the EPA's order. Last May, the EPA issued an administrative emergency order for the Air Force and Arizona Air National Guard to tackle the risk posed by per- and polyfluoroakyl substances (PFAS) at the Tucson International Airport Area Superfund Site, citing the Safe Drinking Water Act. These substances are linked to adverse health effects including cancer and immune system damage, as reported by the AZPM News.

TUCSON, Ariz. — An impressive 78 Arizona student-athletes earned Pac-12 2024 Spring Academic Honor Roll accolades, the conference announced on Wednesday. Any student-athlete on their respective team roster with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3-or-above, and who has served at least one year in residence at the institution, is eligible for the distinction. The spring award winners include members of Arizona's Baseball, Beach Volleyball, Men's Golf, Men's Outdoor Track & Field, Men's Tennis, Softball, Women's Golf, Women's Outdoor Track & Field, and Women's Tennis programs.
Bridge Investment Group Divests of 288-Unit Equestrian in Tucson, Arizona
TUCSON, ARIZ. — Bridge Investment Group has divested of Equestrian, a 288-unit property in Tucson. Investors Capital Group acquired the asset for an undisclosed price. Equestrian was built in 2008. The property offers amenities such as a business center, pool, clubhouse, fitness center, covered parking and 70 private detached garages. Clint Wadlund, Hamid Panahi, Steve Gebing and Cliff David of Institutional Property Advisors, a division of Marcus & Millichap, represented the seller and procured the buyer in the deal.
