Study finds ranchers’ social networks better predict methods of controlling invasive species

Holly Nesbitt, a Boise State University researcher, reported in the August 2024 issue of People and Nature that Nebraska ranchers with certain social networks are more likely to burn tree-invaded grasslands than are ranchers seeing the spread on their land.

Niobrara Council responds to state auditor’s allegations of mishandling funds
VALENTINE, Neb. - The Niobrara Council is responding to the Nebraska state auditor’s allegations of mishandling public funds. The nonprofit, which helps manage the Niobrara National Scenic River, is sending a letter to the auditor stating that it’s not a state agency and therefore not required to issue a statement of corrective action. However, the Council is making changes in response to the auditor’s concerns.
Two arrested, investigator injured during fentanyl bust in north Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Two people were arrested Wednesday after an investigator was injured during a fentanyl bust in north Lincoln, court documents show. Investigators with the Lincoln/Lancaster Narcotics Task Force followed Jacson Mikaya, 27, and Breeana Barker, 26, to two locations suspected around 4 p.m. Authorities said the locations were known hubs for drug use.
