Oregon cats and their plush pads star in this catio tour
Micha and Grace Sinclair welcomed two rescue cats into their Portland home and their life expanded. Grace trained cats Xalia and Mot to wear a harness as they wander through the couple’s attractive triangular yard, and Micha built a large screened cat patio, or catio, that allows the felines to exit one of the kitchen windows and safely nap or play in the outdoor air. The cats can see birds, but they can’t catch them.
Portland loses another public records fight
Portland has suffered yet another legal defeat in its attempt to keep city records from the public. Last week, the Oregon Court of Appeals ruled that the city was wrong to conceal employees’ personal cellphone numbers in records requested by the public. This leaves the city, which has decided not to ask the Oregon Supreme Court to review the case, on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

Naomi Pomeroy’s Final Restaurant, a Homey French Bistro in Pop-Up Form, Opens Tonight
The last restaurant project from Naomi Pomeroy — the late chef of Beast fame who deeply impacted Portland’s dining scene across more than two decades — will live on. The planned restaurant in the former Woodsman Tavern space opens tonight, August 15, as pop-up L’Échelle. Embodying the spirit of Pomeroy’s early Portland pop-up projects, including the dinner series Family Supper that she ran with her then-partner Michael Hebb, L’Échelle will first operate as an experimental pop-up — a casual no-reservations bistro open Thursday through Saturday — before transitioning into a full-service restaurant early next year, according to Pomeroy’s longtime friend and business partner Luke Dirks.

She's become an outspoken advocate for female athletes as her bar attracts packed houses, and she's invested most of The Sports Bra's proceeds back into the business, she says.
