PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office said domesticated pythons were found in a neighborhood of Stockbridge in Elizabeth City.

The snakes are nonvenomous and are believed to be someone’s pets. The Animal Control Division and the Investigative Division have collaborated with Wildlife. They are looking to find answers on where the snakes came from and whether the release was intentional or accidental.

The sheriff’s office is asking the public to notify them if these snakes are spotted as they will not survive in the wild.
