It is the seventh week of the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program, and the finale is in sight.

Our Summer Reading Challenge participants have until Saturday, Aug. 10, to turn in their final reading logs to earn the top prizes at the Friends of the Library's summer reading picnic and award ceremony.

Participants under the age of 10 must read 20 or more books to earn a top-level prize, while participants between the ages of 10 and 18 must read 10 or more books with a mini-report submitted for each book read. The top prize includes a free movie ticket from the Taylor Theater that features free popcorn and soda, a free ice cream scoop from Blount’s Mutual Drug Store, a free 3D print certificate, a free book, and a bag filled with Summer Reading Program-themed swag.

While you read your final books to earn those end-of-summer prizes, drop by the library this week to enjoy some of our scheduled programming. This week we are getting crafty with gimp and friendship bracelets, engaging in a scavenger hunt, and much more!

This week’s Family Friday Matinee will feature a film following some furry rescuers that transform into superheroes that save the world. See below for more details about this week’s program offerings:

    • Healthy Snacks Taste Test: Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., open to all ages
