COA Fast Track AA degree program to get more flexible

College of the Albemarle’s flexible Fast Track Associate in Arts Degree program is getting even more flexible.

The program, which COA announced in the spring, is designed for students who want to expedite their transfer to either a four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree or enter the workforce sooner. The Fast Track Associate in Arts degree can now be completed online in 17 months or less and can be started at the beginning of any semester.

Through more intensive coursework, the program condenses the traditional two-year associate degree timeline, allowing students to complete their degree at an accelerated pace. And now with the ability to start the program at any semester, students can customize their education to fit their schedule and goals.

“COA’s Fast Track Associate in Arts degree is designed to meet the needs of today’s students — providing flexibility and speed,” said Lisa Meads, dean of Arts and Sciences. “It’s our answer to the call for more adaptable, cost-effective higher education options. Expanding the program and offering it for all semesters provides new opportunities for our students who want to expedite accomplishing their educational goals.”

COA also offers students a Fast Track Associate in Applied Science in General Business Administration program which can be completed in 15 months. Registration for the program is only available during the fall and summer semesters.

According to COA, students in the program are prepared for employment opportunities in government agencies, financial institutions, and in business. This program also has a bilateral agreement with Elizabeth City State University offering students a transfer option.
