<body><div> Elizabeth, NJ - On Monday, March 4, 2023, Abraham Lincoln School 14 celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’s Birthday with a reading celebration. Read Across America is an annual event celebrated on or near March 2nd, which is the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss. It is a nationwide reading celebration that was created by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1997 to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading among children. The Abraham Lincoln School 14 received visitors from all over town who were happy to share some of their favorite stories with the students. The students welcomed Chief Barraco from the Elizabeth Fire Department, elected officials Councilwoman At-Large Patricia Perkins-Auguste, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, and Union County Commissioner Chairman Sergio Granados. Elizabeth Board of Education Board Vice President Charlene Bathelus-Dorgely; Jerika Fernandez, and Lourdes Couto from the District Staff Development Department also stopped by to share their favorite books.
