L.A. Indie Pop Band The Strike Plays Club Cafe (Thurs., 7/25/24)
The hot Los Angeles alt-pop band The Strike are headlining a show at Club Cafe tonight. The band will be performing songs from their forthcoming album Until the Lights Go Out (out September 27) for the first time. Their latest singles like “Heroes of the Heart,” “Soundtrack,” and “Friends” should all be on their setlist. The Strike has a world wide fanbase from their touring especially in Dubai and China. Their songs have been used on “Dancing With the Stars,” “America’s Got Talent,” and Netflix’s “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.” The Strike has even gone on to tour the U.S. with artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Journey, Kelly Clarkson. Pirates Injury Update: Jared Jones, Bailey Falter, Ryan Borucki
The Pittsburgh Pirates' starting rotation and bullpen could be getting a boost (or three) fairly soon. On Sunday's edition of his weekly radio show on 93.7 The Fan, general manager Ben Cherington provided some key updates on a trio of injured Pirates pitchers. Perhaps the closest to returning is left-hander Bailey Falter, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with left triceps tendinitis on July 7. Cherington said he is "pretty optimistic" about Falter's progress after he threw a sim game and live batting practice at PNC Park over the All-Star break and that the lefty is "in a good spot on his way back."

Westmoreland County Advances with Demolition of Two Floodplain Properties Amidst Public Silence
Westmoreland County is pressing forward with demolition plans for two residential structures located within the 100-year floodplain, following a public notice seeking comments which resulted in silence from the community. The properties at 1862 Bethel Church Road in Unity Township and 110 Walnut Street in New Florence are poised for razing, a move funded by the FY2023 Community Development Block Grant Program, with the estimated costs standing at $19,500 and $5,500 respectively, according to Westmoreland County press release.
DoD Requiring New ID for Retired Military
JULY 22, 2024 – Beginning in 2026, the legacy Uniformed Services Identification (USID) card will no longer be accepted for access to benefits, privileges, or DoD bases. According to the DoD Common Access Card website, USID cards are issued to retired military and Reserve members, dependent family members of uniformed Service members, and other eligible individuals in accordance with DoD policy. On July 31, 2020, the DoD started issuing the Next Generation USID cards at select DoD ID card facilities with a phased implementation for all facilities which was completed in December that year.
