Champion Media welcomes new CSR to Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN – After being without office help and experiencing a temporary relocation of responsibilities to the Lumberton office, Champion Media has secured a new customer service representative and inside sales person at the Bladen Journal.

Mary Lane was born and raised in Lumberton and graduated from Lumberton High School. Most recently Lane was employed by Kayser Roth as a yarn operator from 2016-2023 when the company closed its doors.

The company which predominantly made hosiery and at one time employed approximately 600 people blamed the closure on the demand for pantyhose and tights declining demand. The company produced pantyhose under the No Nonsense and Hue brand monikers. Lane was one of 136 employees who lost their jobs.

Lane has had production experience, computer and gaming experience and customer service experience in her years of employment.

She describes herself a “Leo baby” being born in August and now at the age of 28, welcomes a new career in the media business.

“When we grew up, we mainly knew the bowling alley,” she said. “My Mamma and Daddy would bowl in tournaments.”

She would travel with her parents as they bowled in several tournaments a year and says that her favorite was the Planet Fun & Starz Grill Family Entertainment and Bowling Center in Shallotte.

Personally, along with her love for being a gamer and currently mastering “Call of Duty,” Lane has a love for drawing and was inspired by art classes at Lumberton High School.

For the first two weeks, Lane didn’t travel very far from home as she trained for her new position at The Robesonian in Lumberton. She moved to Elizabethtown as a permanent office worker for the Bladen Journal April 1.

“I am a very determined person,” Lane said. “I am tenderhearted and when I love, I give it my all. I believe that love conquers everything. I love making people laugh and smile. Even if I am having a hard day, it’s my goal to make someone else’s day a little better.”

After she landed her job at Kayser Roth, she was an independent woman on her own. She decided to change that to move in to help her grandparents and to stay close in their golden years. Lane says that one day she will build a home next to her grandmother in Lumberton.

“My goals are to help others when I can,” she said. “I am glad to be working for the Bladen Journal as I have already come across some of the sweetest people. I do believe I will love it here.”
