    Jamie Delgado and East All-Stars Claim Victory

    GREENSBORO - East Bladen center-midfielder Jamie Delgado participated in the NCCA East-West All-Star game at Grimsley High School last Tuesday. Delgado played on the winning East Team as both a central-midfielder and forward in a 3-2 victory for the Eastern All-Stars. The East All-Stars got their goals from Lee County forward Irvin Gutierrez, Chapel Hill forward Adam Trusky and JH Rose forward Finn Peters.

    The sole scorer for the West All-Stars was Independence forward Aaron Zhu with two unassisted goals to his name. Apex Friendship’s Patrick Dion and Trusky were credited with assists for the East All-Stars. Trusky helped East claw back from a 2-1 deficit with his tying goal and he also bagged the Most Valuable Player Award for the game.

    Delgado had a successful final year as a member of the Eagles soccer team and his excellence on the field earned him Waccamaw Player of Year, as well as All-State Honors. He provided 31 assists and 14 goals in his senior season as he helped contribute to a 14-7 year.

    GIRLS EAST-WEST ALL-STAR GAME

    GREENSBORO-The girls NCCA East-West All-Star game was won by team West for a 1-nil victory at Grimsley High School last Tuesday night. Team West claimed victory over Team East for the first time since 2015 with a goal from Hough forward Kylee Thompson in the third minute. She was assisted by Northern Gulliford’s midfielder Victoria Livadius as team West held on for the victory.

    The shutout victory was split between Cox Mill keeper Reese De Jong and Christ of King keeper Elizabeth Navola. Thompson took home the Most Valuable Player Award for her decisive goal in the first half of Tuesday night’s game.
