American Radio Relay League volunteer exam session set
DuBOIS — An American Radio Relay League Certified volunteer exam session will be available June 18, at 6 p.m. at the Penn State DuBois Campus in the Smeal Building. All classes of amateur radio license exams will be administered. Registration is required at least one week in advance by calling 814-771-3804, no walk-ins available. The exam session will be immediately prior to the June meeting.

RIDGWAY- The old fashioned cake and ice cream social held on Friday night on the Elk County Courthouse Lawn was a great success to celebrate Ridgway’s Bicentennial year. Ridgway couple charged after child is airlifted for ingesting marijuana
RIDGWAY — An Elk County couple has been charged after their 2-year-old child was airlifted due to reportedly ingesting marijuana. Ridgway Borough Police have charged Shawn James Gerg, 33, and Emilie Corinne Nissel, 30, both of Ridgway, with one count of endangering the welfare of children – parent/guardian/other commits offense, a felony in the third degree, according to criminal complaints filed at Magisterial District Judge James Martin’s office May 29.
Elk County man jailed for drug possession following traffic stop
JOHNSONBURG — An Elk County man has been jailed after drugs and paraphernalia were allegedly seized from his vehicle following a traffic stop. State police in Ridgway have charged Duane Robert Walczak, 38, of Johnsonburg, with one felony count of the manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; 24 misdemeanor counts of the use/possession of drug paraphernalia; one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana; three misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance; and is cited for traffic violations, according to a criminal complaint filed Magisterial District Judge James Martin’s office May 20.
