We'll have sunny but hazy conditions overhead, dry conditions, hot temperatures, breezy southeast winds and elevated fire danger Friday. A very welcome drop in temperatures and lighter winds are set to arrive Saturday, but air quality may be too impacted to spend time outdoors. Slightly warmer, but still pleasant Sunday before temperatures heat up again next week.

KINGS POINT, NY (MPG) - Carson James Bushnell, son of Frank and Shawnie Bushnell, of Yuba City recently graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, NY. Bushnell earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission in the U. S. armed forces. He also earned a Merchant Marine officer license, qualifying him to serve as an officer on any ship in the U.S. flag merchant marine. Bushnell is a graduate of River Valley High School.
Leader of Graton Rancheria Speaks Out Further Against Proposed Koi Nation Casino and Resort Near Windsor
Greg Sarris, leader of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria that owns Graton Casino, is taking a more aggressive stance against the proposed Koi Nation gambling resort just 15 miles away on Shiloh Road. The Koi Nation with ancestral land in Clearlake is proposing a casino that would rival Graton, at least in size, and Sarris is arguing that it would be in Graton territory. Koi leaders Darin and Dino Beltran, who are brothers, say that their tribe’s history is marked by a forced diaspora, and that Koi families have lived in Sonoma County for several generations.

Newsom presses Oakland to change strict policy on police chases
Gov. Gavin Newsom sent a letter to Oakland leaders on Friday, urging them to re-evaluate restrictions on police pursuits. First obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle, the letter was addressed to Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, the city council, and the police commission.
