Baccalaureate service for graduating seniors planned

Each year parents of graduating Elk River High School seniors and outgoing juniors help put on a celebration of that year’s graduates called a Baccalaureate Service.

This is a farewell celebration that honors the 2024 graduates from Elk River High School in a Christian gathering and program.

All Elk River High School graduating seniors and their families are invited to attend.

The night is filled with student speakers from the graduating class, alumni from previous years, a community speaker (typically a teacher or community leader), and a few local pastors, and seeks to encourage, inspire, and uplift these graduates as they make their way onto whatever path is ahead for them.

“We parents believe it is vital for the adults and other members of the Elk River community to rally around these graduates, pray for them, and speak life over them, so that they know we are behind them and cheering for them,” said Central Lutheran Pastor Ryan Braley. “Elk River is such a wonderful community and this ceremony fits well within the ethos of our city which does such a wonderful job of championing our young people.”

This year’s service will be June 2 at the Zabee Theater. The deadline to register is May 19.
