Filing period quiet for two open Elk River City Council seats

Elk River Ward 3 City Council Member Mike Beyer filed for reelection on Friday, May 24.

So far (as of 10:33 a.m. on Thursday, May 30) only one person has filed for two open positions on the Elk River City Council.

The candidate filing period for the Ward 2 Ward 3 seats opened Tuesday, May 21.

The Ward 2 seat is currently held by Matt Westgaard, who is not seeking reelection. Beyer announced a few weeks ago he intends to run for reelection to his Ward 3 seat.

The filing window closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4. Candidate filings for these two offices are to be filed at the Office of the City Clerk, Elk River City Hall, 13065 Orono Parkway. People can file during business hours. The office has switched to summer hours now that Memorial Day has come and gone. The filing fee is $5.
