As the Highway 169 Redefine freeway project continues to unfold, Highway 169 remains one lane each way, 24-7, between Highway 10 and School Street in Elk River, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Highway 169 access to and from Main Street is currently closed.

Intersection closes at Main Street and Zane Street/Line Ave.

Access will close after 8 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the intersection of Main Street/181st Avenue and Zane Street/Line Avenue east of Highway 169 in Elk River. Work will include removals, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, curb, sidewalks and asphalt paving.

Motorists should follow road signs along Twin Lakes Road between 179th Street and Line Avenue. The access will reopen in mid-August.

More about this 169 Redefine project

When the freeway is complete in 2024, MnDOT says the project will improve traffic flow, increase capacity and reduce bottle necks, and improve motorist and pedestrian safety along three miles of Highway 169 in Elk River.
