Aug. 9 deadline for Star News subscription nears

Local community newspaper and its online content will no longer be free

We have reached the halfway point of our education campaign going from a free newspaper to one that will soon require a paid subscription. It is a good time to pause and thank all of you who have chosen to subscribe. We appreciate all your support and truly value each of you as loyal readers.

We also wanted to repeat our commitment to local journalism that will keep you informed of the relevant news and information in this community.

Readers who subscribe to this paper recently learned that the 728 Cadets marching band captured the prestigious championship title at the Vikingland Band Festival in Alexandria, that more than 40 staff members retired at the conclusion of the school year at ISD 728, that the Elk River Fire Department is recruiting new firefighters, that Elk River native and defenseman Matt Kierstad has been re-signed by the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers, that Zimmerman Mayor Nick Stay will not be seeking reelection, that a developer plans to revitalize a vacant portion of the Albertville mall, and a new microbrewery will open its doors in the former Hardee’s building in Rogers.

We know everyone is busy, and there are still a few more weeks before you will no longer receive this newspaper if you have not subscribed. But if you find any aspect of this newspaper and our online site of value, now is a great time to take advantage of a remarkable offer to keep the paper coming to your home in print and at your fingertips with our online sites.

However, time is running out. After Aug. 11, everyone will need a paid subscription to receive the print paper and gain access to all of the valuable online content.

Your support of the local newspaper through a standard subscription is only $6 per month or $72 per year. But if you subscribe now, it’s as little as $2 per month or $72 for a three-year subscription. Yes, that gets you three full years of the print paper and online (just $24 per year), but you need to act on this exceptional offer now. Or you can choose a one-year subscription for just $36.

There are many ways you can subscribe:

•Fill out the in-paper form in this issue.

•Go to our website and click on “subscribe” button.

•Respond to any of the emailed messages we send about subscribing.

If you have already paid to subscribe and receive a renewal notice, please disregard. We are trying to make sure everyone knows about the change coming so no one misses out.

If you have any questions about this change, you can also reach us at 763-712-3544 or by emailing us at servicecenter@apgecm.com.

Thanks for your continued support. Our ability to provide community journalism that matters is made possible by you.
