    Elk River police report: Furniture stolen from Plants and Things; and a house fire

    The theft of approximately $1,300 in furniture was reported at Plants and Things in Elk River.

    Two suspects selected several items, loaded them into a black Ford crewcab and paid for some less expensive items.

    The theft was reported to police at 2:40 p.m. July 14.

    Vehicle went off the road; driver cited

    Police cited a 43-year-old Zimmerman man for driving after cancellation after responding to a report of a vehicle off the road near the 21400 block of Jarvis Street in Elk River shortly after 9 a.m. July 10.

    The man told police he had a seizure and went off the road. The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance; the vehicle was towed.

    Snowblower taken from church’s shed

    A snowblower was reported stolen from a church in Elk River.

    Police were dispatched to the church in the 18000 block of Twin Lakes Road shortly after 6:30 a.m. July 14. Someone had broken into a detached utility shed to steal the walk-behind snowblower valued at $450.

    House fire reported

    Authorities were dispatched to a house fire in the 19000 block of Zane Street in Elk River at 5:02 a.m. July 13.

    Officers evacuated all residents and provided scene security for the Elk River Fire Department. Firefighters put out the fire.

    Man slumped at wheel reportedly injected fentanyl

    Officers responded to 165th Avenue and Gateway Road in Elk River at 7:57 a.m. July 9 on a report of a male slumped at the wheel.

    Police learned that the 28-year-old Maple Grove man was injecting fentanyl and had passed out, according to the police report. He was arrested. Officers seized the suspected fentanyl.

    Mulcher head kicks up object that breaks window

    A man reported that he was running a mulcher head on a skid loader near 179th Avenue and Twin Lakes Road when an unknown object, possibly a rock, went airborne and hit a vehicle. The driver had been eastbound on 179th Avenue and stopped at a red light when the object hit her driver’s side rear window, shattering it. The mishap was reported at 12:51 p.m. July 8.

    Man reports fraudulent check in his account

    A 20-year-old Elk River man reported receiving an entrepreneurial opportunity over Snapchat, which led to a fraudulent check being deposited into his bank account. The man was then receiving threats from the scammers demanding the money back.

    The matter was reported to police on July 11.

    Attempted theft of $31.74 in alcohol

    Police responded to Walmart in Elk River for a report of a male who allegedly attempted to take $31.74 in alcoholic beverages. Loss prevention officers stopped and detained the male. The incident was reported to police at 5:01 p.m. July 16.

    Police said the incident is under investigation and no one has been charged yet.

    DWI for woman slumped over wheel

    Recent DWI arrests include:

    • Police arrested a 63-year-old Crystal woman for DWI after being dispatched to the 600 block of Main Street for a welfare check on a woman slumped over at the wheel. The incident was reported to police at 8:18 p.m. July 11.

    • Police arrested a 40-year-old Zimmerman woman for DWI after being dispatched to the 600 block of Main Street for a female asleep in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. The call had come in just after midnight July 9.

    Man napping on cardboard continues on his bike ride

    Police were dispatched to Highway 10 and Main Street in Elk River at 10:43 p.m. July 9 to check on the welfare of a man reclining on cardboard. Police spoke to the 33-year-old St. Cloud man who said he was biking to St. Paul and laid down to sleep. Police advised the man that it was not a good spot to sleep. He continued to St. Paul.
