Evening of the Arts 2024 shines
Elk River High School hosted its annual Evening of the Arts on April 25. The free event welcomed students, parents and community members with an eclectic selection of musical performances, cultural displays, student art demonstrations, theatrical performances and more. There were hundreds of works of art on display including photography portfolios, large-format digital prints, original fashion designs created without fabric, writer’s portfolios, pottery, paintings, jewelry and drawings. In addition to the children’s make-and-take button station, visitors were treated to Raku firings, painted photo-op boards and student instructors available for those who wanted to try the potter’s wheel. The activity was made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Central MN Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, with additional funding from Tributary Advisor Group, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC.
Wright County will celebrate Childcare Provider Appreciation Day on May 10
May 10 is Childcare Provider Appreciation Day and Wright County Health and Human Services announced that it would like to thank all licensed childcare providers who make a difference in many lives. Provider Appreciation Day is celebrated the Friday before Mother’s Day every year to recognize providers of young children and give gratitude for those who support the social, emotional and physical care of children. Elk River Beyond the Yellow Ribbon to honor those enlisting
Elk River Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, a non-profit committed to supporting active military and veterans, will once again honor local high school graduates who are enlisting in the U.S. Armed Forces. The ERBTYR is looking for young men or women who are graduating this year from Elk River, Ivan Sand or Spectrum high schools who intend to serve the country in any of the nation’s military services. ERBTYR’s intent is to personally and publicly recognize these graduates and future military leaders. If you know of a local 2024 high school graduate who will be enlisting, email ERBTYR at elkriverbtyr@gmail.com with his/her name, address, military branch of service, high school and a contact phone or email address by May 30.
TRCF golf tourney set for Friday, June 7

Three ERHS students earn 2024 Minnesota YAM Awards
Elk River High School artists earned recognition at the 2024 Minnesota Youth Art Month Student Exhibition “Dream in Art.” This juried exhibition celebrates the artwork of some of our state’s most talented elementary, middle and high school students with artwork on display at the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault, Minnesota. Senior Violett Funk earned the Honorable Mention Award. Junior Jersey Bauer and freshman Anne Aaron each earned Achievement Awards and their artwork were a part of the Youth Art Month display at the National Art Education Association Conference held at the Convention Center, Minneapolis, MN April 4-6. March is Youth Art Month and it is a celebration of the visual arts. The state-level program provides a platform for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences including problem solving, creativity, observation and communication. Additional exhibiting ERHS artists are Alexander Ebert, Riley Hora, Robert Hora, Leah Skogquist-Berg, Levi Holmgren, Liz Bryan, and Lee Struwve.
