Updated: Section of CSAH 36 in Otsego slated to reopen after being closed due to flooding
Update: The segment of County State Aid Highway 36 between Quilley Avenue NE and Rachele Avenue NE in Otsego that has been closed since Monday (June 24) will re-open in the next half hour (1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27) to traffic, the Wright County Highway Department announced. Drunken driver arrested at Westbound Liquor
A 44-year-old Elk River man was arrested driving while intoxicated after making a trip to Westbound Liquor in Elk River. After making contact with the man, Elk River Police observed signs of impairment shortly before 10 p.m. on June 11. During interaction with officers, the driver became uncooperative with officers, according to Elk River Police Capt. Joe Gacke. He reportedly refused all field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DWI. The male also resisted officers and attempted to harm himself by banging his head on a squad, Gacke reported. Elk River Ambulance assisted with restraining the male and transporting him to Monticello Hospital. The male was later booked into Sherburne County Jail.
Toilet-papering job at residence was no laughing matter
A 54-year-old Elk River man called on the night of June 6 to report four vehicles with juveniles had just toilet papered his residence in the 13000 block of Olson Street and thrown flour on his son’s vehicle. The complainant was concerned for his wife, who has a severe gluten allergy. An officer responded to the area, gacke reported. The complainant stated one vehicle was a black BMW two-door and another was an old burgundy Ford Explorer, but he was unable to see the other two cars well enough to identify make or model. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to gluten include but are not limited to swelling, itching or irritation of the mouth, throat and skin to difficulty breathing to life-threatening anaphylaxis, according to the Mayo Clinic website.
