After 25 years, the Dive Tower in Elkhart will reopen in an effort to build quality of place in the city.

“The tower has been closed up for more than 25 years, and the renovations showcase another example of our commitment to investing in quality of place,” said Jamison Czarnecki, Elkhart Parks and Recreation superintendent, in a press release. “Like many residents, I used to visit this with my family, and it’s a unique feature we’re blessed to have. It’s a joy to reopen this for families to enjoy again.”

The Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate a grand reopening from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 1 at 500 E. Beardsley Ave. The day will include guided tours, a youth fishing clinic and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Sign up here .

“We appreciate the work that our buildings and grounds department did to make this beautification come alive,” Czarnecki said. “The work that the department did
internally, will be compounded with the ranger division leading tours during open hours to ensure that the tower will be watched and taken care of for years to come.”

Guided tours will be available from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month through Labor Day.
